SHED's Child Sponsorship Scheme
Sponsor a child Today
Make a Lasting Impact in the Life of an Orphan
We take great pleasure in serving forgotten and unloved children by placing them in loving, Caring families and giving them every opportunity to not only survive, but to thrive in their local communities.
You can play an important role in this process by becoming a monthly sponsor for $60 per month.
Fund Your Child’s Physical and Mental Care
- Basic Needs: Home, Food, Clothing, Books, Toys, etc...
- Medical care
- Computer and reading programs
- Attendance at the best schools.
- Attendance and participation in a local Churchs
Optional Birthday and Christmas Gift Opportunities
We also suggest (optional) an annual $30 Christmas/Birthday contribution ($20 for Christmas and $10 for their birthday). We have found it more effective to send a cash gift directly to the parents or guardians. This allows the parents/guardians to take the child on a special shopping adventure where they are able to purchase something the child wants and needs. It also provides a sense of gift-equality with each child.
A Special Child is Waiting
Every Shed child sponsorship gives the gift of hope and the ability for children to dream about their future. Become a sponsor and join a community of like-minded people who provide deserving children with a loving family environment, stability, education and hope!
Your experience will be personally rewarding as you build a special relationship with a child through the exchange of letters and photos that will be life changing for both of you.

Case Study
A CASE OF KALANGALA DISTRICT
Kalangala district has a high number of orphans and vulnerable children totaling to 5, 987 out of the total population of children which is 11,798. A total of
2330 orphans are aged 0-17 yrs, accounting for 19.8% of children in the district and is above the national average of 13.4%. Children heading families are
242, homeless children 571, Child laborers 850, married children 589, Disaffiliated children 43. HIV/AIDS and poverty are the critical factors causing
vulnerability among children. The prevalence of HIV/AIDS is estimated at 24.1% compared to the country average of 6.1%. Considering the year 2004, of the
9,825 children expected to enroll in school, only 3,717 (38%) where actually in school. The dropout rate in Kalangala is very high estimated at 60% while the
transition rate from primary to secondary is still low averaging about 40%. Children out of school (6-15 yrs) is 583, children (6-15yrs) who had never
attended school is 396 (Data from ICEIDA needs assessment report-2005).
SHED is intending to structure and initiate a child sponsorship program to respond to the challenge faced by orphans and vulnerable children in accessing
