Education
SHED’s education program is in line with the Education Sector Strategic Plan objectives that include;
- Achieving equitable access to relevant and quality education and training
- Ensuring delivery of relevant and quality education and training

Key Accomplishments:
Promoting Literacy and Safe School environments
SHED has taken an active role in promoting literacy and safe school environments addressing the following result areas;
- Strengthening community commitment and capacity to prevent and respond to School Related Gender Based Violence.
- Increasing community and household-level involvement in the learning practice of children
- Strengthening capacity of the education system to implement the MoES Reporting, Tracking, Referral and Response (RTRR) Guideline.
Achievements
- Mapping Gender Based Violence service providers to enhance reporting and referral.
- Facilitating community dialogues to inspire grass-root collective actions to end gender-based violence in school communities.
- Establishing and equipping village child protection committees to aid case management.
- Implementing a social behavior change campaign to shift social norms and provoke positive change towards safe school environments.
- Social behavior change campaign to increase parents’ involvement in their children’s reading practice.
- Training and equipping 50 grassroot activists that are leading community actions to end bullying, sexual harassment and corporal punishment in school communities.

Vocational Skills Training
SHED under the non-formal education program provides short term tailored vocational skills training to vulnerable groups; so far, 800 young people have benefited from the program acquiring skills in various enterprises ranging from hair dressing, tailoring, catering and bakery.
