SHED's take on Accommodation and Training Facilities in Uganda
Vocational skills training:
SHED equips youth with technical skills in various trades like; crafts, hairdressing, catering, building and candle making.
This comes in form of three months modular training where young people chose to participate in a particular trade according to preference.
The project also works through youth groups to provide business development services that include financial literacy, linkages to markets and affordable loans, training in group dynamics and business planning.
Establishing Best Practices
We are currently running our vocational skills program from rented premises.this presents enormous challenges in terms of accommodating our learners and equipping the center.
Shed has acquired a prime piece of land in Kalangala district to provide a permanent home for its vocational training program. This will include training shelters and boarding facilities for the long distance learners.
